Ride the Wave!
Ride the Wave!
We are passionate storytellers, bringing to life the adventures of our RV lifestyle through our YouTube channel "On Island Time." Our motto, "Ride the Wave," captures the essence of the free-spirited spirit of our travels, soundtracked by the melodic strums of the Ukulele, a nod to Sheri's Hawaiian roots. Since 2013, we've been avid campers, starting with our first RV, a cozy 25-foot Forest River Sunseeker without slideouts, and later upgrading to the 2022 Nexus Wraith 34W, affectionately named "Pualena," a 34-foot marvel with two slideouts and a powerful 300 horsepower Cummins Diesel engine on an International Chassis.
Christmas Day 2021 marked the launch of our channel and we've been having a blast ever since, sharing our love of the great outdoors and all it has to offer. From campground reviews that highlight three likes and dislikes to showcasing the people we meet and the exciting activities available, we bring a unique perspective to the RV lifestyle. And of course, no video is complete without a look at the campground and our campsite, inviting viewers along for the ride. Join us on our journey with Pualena and "Ride the Wave" with us!
We're always on the hunt for new and exciting destinations, and last year we hit the jackpot in Moab, Utah where we explored the stunning desert in a UTV and took in the breathtaking views of the Colorado River, The Abys, Mickeys Hot Tub and the highlight of the Hell's Revenge trail, Hell's Gate, all at sunset.
Our 2023 calendar is filling up fast with exciting trips and we can't wait to share our adventures with you! Be sure to visit our YouTube Channel, "On Island Time," and subscribe to follow along. We're also launching a blog, full of interesting and informative content all about camping, campgrounds, RVs and more. Join us as we continue to explore and "Ride the Wave" of our RV lifestyle!

During our participation in the Wandering Wagner's Swag Out event at Adventure Bound Pleasant View Campground, we had the opportunity to connect with many outstanding fellow campers who follow the Wagner's YouTube channel. Mike and Lynn were kind enough to grant us an interview, adding to the already memorable experience.

From our RV camping trip at Cumberland Mountain State Park, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our second RV camping stop on our western trip was Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. A stunning campsite near Bear Creek Lake and just west of Denver. We had a great time exploring the stunning, wide-ranging trails on our Lectric bikes, taking a quick tour of Red Rocks, and making new friends with Kirk and Nancy. However, our journey was not without challenges and a spooky encounter!
Looking for a fun, kid-friendly place with a unique experience? Look no further than Scatter Joy Acres! On our journey west, we stopped for an overnight stay at a Cracker Barrel before reaching Scatter Joy Acres. Along the way, we were treated to beautiful scenery in the American Midwest. Our videos of Opie and other highlights of Scatter Joy Acres will give you a taste of what to expect, along with our thoughts on the location. Scatter Joy Acres is a Nebraska-based animal rescue that invites RVers to spend the night and experience personal interaction with the animals. We were lucky enough to feed and hold a two-week-old joey named Opie and feed the emus. If you're traveling through the area, we highly recommend taking a break at Scatter Joy Acres. Scatter Joy Acres is a member of the Harvest Hosts network, so you can reserve a stay through your account or sign up for an account at harvesthost.com. Don't have an RV? No problem! Scatter Joy also offers an Airbnb option, and reservations can be made on their website.
Our trip to Starved Rock State Park and Campground was amazing! Sheri baked a scrumptious chocolate pie, and we hiked miles of stairs to discover hidden treasures near Chicago.
Camping at Mississinewa Lake with our Super C was a blast. Sheri baked delicious brownies with pretzels on top using our convection oven. We seasoned our Blackstone griddle and cooked our inaugural meal of ribeye steak with mushrooms and onions on it.
Scatter Joy Acres is an animal rescue in Nebraska who have opened their doors to RVers to come spend the night and enjoy the animals in a more personal way than what a zoo can offer. We were blessed to get to feed and hold baby Opie, a two week old joey. We encourage campers that are traveling through the area to stop and spend the night at Scatter Joy Acres. You can make a reservation to stay at Scatter Joy Acres if you have a Harvest Host account or you can visit harvesthost.com to signup for an account. Scatter Joy also features an air bnb and reservations can be made on their website.
The Hughes Power Watchdog safeguards your RV gear from dangerous electrical issues like current, surge, and over/under voltage. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through installing the 50 amp RV surge protector on our Nexus Wraith 34W motorhome. While the Hughes Power Watchdog 50 Amp installation is straightforward, it might require some knowledge of your RV's electrical system. If you're not confident in your installation abilities, consider hiring a professional or using a plug-and-play surge protector like the Hughes Power Watchdog, which simply requires plugging into the power pole and then into your shore power cable.
Our recent camping trip to Potato Creek was a success! Despite some rainy weather, we enjoyed our time in our cozy RV. We caught up with friends over a potluck dinner and even took a short ride on the Lectric bikes on Sunday before departing.
Our dealer walkthrough of our 2022 Nexus Wraith 34W super c. This is part 2 of the detailed walkthrough of our RV the day we picked it up at General RV in Huntley IL.

During our visit to the Indiana Dunes in March, we made a stop at the nature center to attend the Turtle Time presentation. The presentation shed light on the fascinating world of turtles, revealing that they possess a built-in GPS system, can have lifespans equal to or longer than humans, and even exhibit unique personalities. We came away from the presentation with a newfound appreciation for these amazing creatures.
Sagging drawer bottoms can be quite frustrating. Not only do items get lost underneath them, but they can also become difficult to open. Fortunately, we have discovered a great solution to address this issue.
Our recent visit to Prophetstown netted some interesting discoveries, one of which was the Aquatic Center with a water slide! The Aquatic Center was not open yet but it looks like it will be a lot of fun for the kids and adults as well. We also took our first ride on our new eBikes and had a massive amount of fun!

We recently purchased Lectric eBikes as a Christmas gift to one another. The results are finally in and we love them! Sheri got the Step Through and Mike got the XP. The bikes were on a special deal at the time of purchase and the comfort package was included at no additional cost. Our fist ride was at Prophetstown state park on the beautiful prairie land bike and walking trails. We logged about 10 miles on our first trip and took in the natural beauty of the land and enjoyed watching and listening to some of the wildlife! Lectric Bikes is still running specials deals and if you are interested in purchasing one of their bikes we highly recommend them!

We found our RV queen bed so uncomfortable that we literally slept on our fold out couch until we did this. It made a huge difference and cheaper than buying a new mattress!

Our first camping trip in our new RV was to Indiana Dunes State Park. A nearby location we have never visited. The weather was warm on Saturday but we didn't get to see as much of the park as we wanted because Mike was busy fixing things and personalizing the RV. We did get to visit the Nature Center for the Turtle Time presentation. We hope to return maybe in the fall when the parks are not as busy.
Some of the RV's we toured at the Chicago RV and Camping Show. Show vendors.
We finally got our new Nexus Wraith 34W RV and we have given her the name Pualena. Our maiden camping trip is coming up in March. We couldn't resist having our dinner in the new RV in our driveway!
We are less than a week away from trading in our Sunseeker for a new RV. Our Sunseeker has seen thousands of miles and has been a joy (most of the time) to experience camping in. We are moving on now to a larger RV, but we will never forget our fond memories in our Sunseeker and the many friends we have made along the way.
Potato creek is an Indiana state part that first opened in 1977. It features wildlife habitat, bicycling, boating, camping, cross country skiing, fishing, swimming, horse trails and picnic areas. Potato Creek gets its name from the early English translation of the wild potato-like plant the Native-Americans once collected in the area.

We visited France Park while camping at Tippecanoe State Park on the recommendation of some friends we met camping in Eby Pines. Boy was we surprised at the great beauty of the Park! Thanks to Chris and Liz for revealing this hidden gem!
Feast of the Hunter's Moon is an annual event hosted at Fort that captures 18th-century life at Fort Ouiatenon. Sheri and I love to attend this annual fall gathering and camp at Prophetstown State Park to get quick and easy access to this event.
